Santa Rosa Redwood Deck Project

This Santa Rosa deck sits low and close to the house, framed twice over with a double picture-frame border that draws the eye down the length of the redwood boards. Wide steps carry the same border detail down to the stamped concrete patio below, so the two surfaces read as one continuous space rather than a deck bolted onto a slab. Redwood was the right call here. It takes stain well and holds up in North Bay weather without warping or graying out fast. We finished the boards in a glossy stain that brings out the grain and gives the whole deck a finished, showroom look rather than a raw lumber feel. The low-profile build keeps sightlines open from the sliding doors and avoids the bulk of a raised structure. Combined with the stamped concrete patio, this project gave the homeowner a full backyard upgrade, not just a deck. It's the kind of detail work, double framing, matched step treads, clean transitions, that separates a deck someone remembers from one they just walk on.
