Windsor Windows & Doors Project

This Windsor project started with a plain exterior wall and a request: cut in a door and a window. The goal was a private entrance for a small master bedroom, part of a larger remodel aimed at turning the space into a rental. We framed a new rough opening in the existing wood-sided wall, then set a vinyl double-hung window alongside a glass panel exterior door. The window brings in light without giving up privacy on the lower sash. The door's glass panel does the same job on a larger scale, so the room doesn't feel closed off even though it now stands separate from the main house. Work is still in progress. Wood trim is up around both openings but not yet painted, and a landing still needs to go in below the new door so it's usable as a real entrance. Once that's finished, this small bedroom will have its own way in and out — independent of the rest of the house, which is exactly what a rental unit needs.
