Healdsburg Stairs & Entry Project

The old entry stairs on this Healdsburg home were steep, narrow, and worn out. The client wanted them gone. We tore the whole staircase out and started fresh, widening the run by 18 inches and adding another 2 feet of length. That extra room let us drop the rise and widen each tread, so the climb up to the entry is easier and safer on every step. We poured a new concrete landing at the base to give the stairs a solid, level starting point, something the old structure never had. Dark-stained wood treads replaced the tired original boards, and we set small riser lights into the stringers so the stairs are lit at night without any bulky fixtures. A painted wood railing runs the full length for a clean, finished look that matches the house. This is the kind of project that looks simple in photos but comes down to getting the geometry right: rise, run, and landing all have to work together. Rebuilt from the ground up, these stairs are safer to use and built to hold up under daily traffic.
