Rohnert Park Stairs & Entry Project

Steep 40-year-old entry stairs replaced with wider treads and a gentler rise in Rohnert Park. Composite decking, vinyl railing, built for safe daily access.

The build

Accessible Entry Stairs & Porch

This Rohnert Park home had a 40-year-old entry staircase that had done its job long enough. It was undersized, steep, and no longer worked for how the family actually used their front door — especially their daughters, who have special needs and needed safer footing to get in and out. We tore out the old wood structure down to the framing and rebuilt the stairs and porch from scratch. The new design widens each tread and eases the rise, so every step down is more forgiving. We decked the porch and stairs in composite and framed the entry with vinyl/PVC railing and posts, giving the family a sturdy handhold at every point along the climb. The result is an entry that works for everyone in the house, not just the able-bodied. No more careful, hesitant steps — the family can move in and out with ease, and they've got a front porch worth sitting on with a morning cup of coffee.
