The build

Waterfall Island Kitchen Remodel

This Santa Rosa kitchen remodel centered on one piece: the island. We widened it by seven inches, enough to change how the space works for hosting without throwing off the room's proportions. The sink and dishwasher moved to the wall under the window, clearing the island for prep and gathering and putting cleanup where the light is. The island wears a waterfall-edge top in Brazilian quartzite, carried down both sides in a single continuous line. We had enough material left over to wrap the toe kick underneath in matching stone, a small detail that most people won't consciously notice but that keeps the whole piece looking like it was cut from one slab. Around it, white shaker cabinets, a herringbone marble mosaic backsplash, wood flooring, and a stainless range hood round out the room. Pendant lighting hangs over the island where the work and the conversation happen. It's a straightforward remodel done right: move what needs moving, size things for how the space actually gets used, and don't waste good stone.
